Description
This original impressionistic oil painting on canvas is titled Winds of Summer and is signed August in the lower right corner. The composition depicts a female figure in a dark blouse and long white skirt standing on a coastal cliffside densely covered with red and white wildflowers. She looks out over a misty blue body of water featuring two sailboats in the distance. The work is characterized by textured impasto brushwork and a soft, atmospheric palette. The reverse of the wooden stretcher is hand-inscribed with the title, medium, dimensions, and artist as Winds of Summer (OIL) 18×24 L. AUGUST. A paper retail tag is also attached to the frame identifying the artist as Lillian August and listing a price of $725. The painting is housed in a wide, ornate Rococo-style frame with a distressed off-white finish and a cream-colored linen liner.

Condition report:
The oil on canvas is in good stable condition with no visible craquelure or paint loss. The frame exhibits notable damage, including a prominent chip and loss to the gesso molding on the lower right corner. There are additional smaller chips, cracks, and surface wear to the frame molding and finish throughout.
