Description

This large-scale Impressionistic oil on canvas, titled Red Patio Chairs, is by American artist Suzanne French Luker. The composition depicts a vibrant, sun-drenched garden patio featuring two scrolled red-framed armchairs and a green folding chair arranged near a small bistro table. The scene is filled with a profusion of colorful flowers in pots and garden beds, including hollyhocks and potted geraniums, set against a peach-colored wall with blue-shuttered windows. The artist employs loose, painterly brushwork and a saturated color palette to emphasize the effects of dappled sunlight and shadow. The work is signed Suzanne French Luker in the lower right corner. The verso and canvas overlap feature additional signatures, the title, and the date 2-4-86. The painting is housed in a substantial contemporary gilt-finished frame with a wide, flat profile and a cream linen-covered inner liner. The canvas is stretched over a wooden frame stamped 36 x 40, Chappel, and HECHO EN MEXICO.

Sight: 39.5 x 35.5 inches

Frame: 51 x 47 inches.
