Description
This work is an oil on canvas painting executed in an impressionistic style, depicting a bustling street scene in what appears to be a European city. The composition features multi-story buildings with red-tiled roofs flanking a central thoroughfare. Small figures and horse-drawn carriages populate the street, rendered with loose, energetic brushwork and heavy impasto throughout the architectural details and the figures. A prominent church tower stands in the middle ground against a textured, pale yellow and green sky. The painting is signed T. Cole in the lower right corner in dark pigment. The reverse of the wooden frame bears several handwritten inscriptions in pencil, including Madrid 24 and Fabric 36. The artwork is housed in an ornate rococo-style gilt frame decorated with scrolled foliate, floral, and shell motifs. A white inventory tag is included, and a tape measure is visible in documentation to confirm the scale.

Condition report:

The canvas remains taut on its wooden stretcher.
