Description
This folk art style oil painting on stretched canvas depicts a rural winter landscape. The central focus is a rustic red cabin featuring a prominent fieldstone chimney and a snow-covered roof. To the left, several smaller outbuildings are visible, and to the right, a red vehicle is parked under a snow-laden lean-to shelter. The background consists of a dense forest of evergreen and deciduous trees, heavily coated in white paint to simulate deep snow. The composition uses a flattened, naive perspective characteristic of folk art. The work is signed D. PAYNE in the lower right corner. The canvas is stretched over wooden stretcher bars stamped with the manufacturer mark Fredrix 18. A yellow price sticker and a piece of black tape are present on the upper stretcher bar on the verso.
