Description
This hand-carved and polychrome painted wooden mask originates from Bali, Indonesia, and represents Rangda, the demon queen of Balinese Hindu mythology. The mask features characteristic bulging pendol eyes, large white tusks, and a wide mouth. It is constructed with separate side panels attached to the main face. A long orange fabric tongue is suspended from the mouth, decorated with three gilded openwork floral ornaments, each set with a central reflective element. The reverse of the mask includes a handwritten white label reading INDONESIA GIFT (MERYL) and a small red and white printed sticker stating MADE IN INDONESIA. A wire for hanging is attached to the top of the head.

Condition report:
The mask is in good overall condition. Visible wear includes minor scuffs to the paint and light dust accumulation in the recessed areas. The orange fabric tongue shows minor fraying at the edges.
