Description
This mid-century modernist work is executed in watercolor and ink on toned paper. The composition depicts a stylized group of nine standing figures rendered with expressive black ink line work and overlaid with translucent washes in shades of magenta, blue, and yellow. The figures are depicted in traditional attire, including headdresses and patterned lower garments, suggestive of Southeast Asian or Balinese cultural motifs. A single character mark, which appears to be the letter P followed by a period, is located in the lower right corner of the paper. The piece is presented in a white-painted faux bamboo frame with a dark brown mat.
