Description
A large, seated ceramic figure depicting a Medicine Buddha in a meditative posture. The figure is characterized by its vibrant green and mottled turquoise-blue ‘splashed’ glaze, which covers most of the surface and has a high sheen. The Buddha’s right hand (viewer’s left) holds a spiky, lotus-like sprig or bud, while the left hand (viewer’s right) cradles a covered jar or medicine pot. The head features a serene expression with downcast eyes and tightly curled hair (ushnisha). Robes are draped over the figure, displaying intricate raised patterns along the shoulders and edges. The hollow underside reveals a buff-colored, unglazed ceramic body, with faint, incised markings visible on the unglazed rim that are not clearly legible.
