The piece is constructed from cherry primary wood with a reddish-brown finish and light hardwood secondary wood. The rectangular top features a molded edge and sits above a configuration of three drawers, with two small drawers over one full-width drawer. All drawers are constructed with dovetail joinery and are fitted with cast brass batwing-style backplates and bail pulls. The case is finished with a decoratively scalloped apron and stands on four cabriole legs terminating in pad feet. The interior side of a drawer is branded with an oval mark identifying the maker as Pennsylvania House.

Condition report:

The chest is in good overall condition. The top surface displays minor surface scratches, small dings, and impressions consistent with age and typical use. A small chip is visible on the front edge of the top. The legs and feet show light scuffs and wear marks. The hardware is intact and appears original to the piece.
