Description
A pair of small mahogany bow-front chests of drawers in the Federal taste by Councill Craftsmen. Each chest features four graduated drawers faced with highly figured mahogany veneers, bordered by light wood stringing and crossbanding. The cases feature flat side panels and terminate in a shaped apron with integral bracket feet. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joinery and utilize a light secondary wood for the interiors. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of brass oval bail handles featuring stamped backplates. A gold-toned oval metal maker’s tag is pinned to the interior of a drawer in each chest, inscribed with the script name Councill above the block-lettered CRAFTSMEN.

Condition report:
The pair is in very good to excellent overall condition. There is minor cosmetic wear consistent with residential use, including light surface scuffs and scratches on the side panels and back. A small finish nick is visible on the lower front molding of one chest. The finish remains bright and consistent across both pieces.
