Description
A collection of vintage hardcover children’s books from the Oz series, featuring titles by L. Frank Baum and Ruth Plumly Thompson, with illustrations throughout by John R. Neill. The assortment includes The Hungry Tiger of Oz, The Lost King of Oz, The Magic of Oz, The Road to Oz, Kabumpo in Oz, The Emerald City of Oz, Grampa in Oz, and The Cowardly Lion of Oz. The volumes are bound in publisher’s cloth with pictorial paste-downs on the front covers. Internally, the books feature black and white illustrations and pictorial endpapers. One volume contains a This Book belongs to ownership page with a handwritten pencil inscription reading The Nash Family.
Condition report:
The collection is in poor to fair condition. All volumes exhibit heavy wear and significant structural deterioration. Every volume has been subjected to extensive non-archival tape repairs along the spines and hinges; this tape has become yellowed, brittle, and is peeling in several locations. The cloth boards show heavy rubbing, soiling, and fraying at the corners and spine ends. Internally, the text blocks are tanned with visible foxing. Hinges are weakened or cracked in several volumes, and there is general shelf wear throughout.
