Description
A Worcester Pewter ‘Birth of a Nation’ series commemorative plate, depicting ‘The Ride of Paul Revere’. This modern period (1970s) pewter plate features a scalloped rim and a central bas-relief scene. The central scene shows a man on horseback, gesturing, with colonial buildings and trees in the background, accompanied by the inscription “The Ride of Paul Revere” and “COPR. 1972 P.W. BASTON.” The rim is decorated with four sets of relief-molded eagles. The reverse is inscribed with “Birth of a Nation,” detailing that “This plate depicts the Ride of Paul Revere which occurred in Boston April 18, 1775,” and is “the second in a series of limited edition plates to be issued by Worcester Pewter to commemorate the Bicentennial of the United States 1973.” An additional eagle motif and an integrated hanging loop are present on the reverse. The plate exhibits a consistent matte grey finish.
Condition report:
The plate appears to be in good overall condition, consistent with its age. The matte grey finish is uniform. No significant dents, scratches, or repairs are noted.
