Lifetime Collection of Atlanta Resident: Part II
Lot 62:
Description
A hinged, rectangular sterling silver cigarette case, exhibiting Art Deco influence and likely dating to the early to mid-20th century. The exterior features a plain polished lid and a second lid decorated with alternating horizontal textured and gilt-tone striped panels, centered by a circular monogram with intertwined letters “JLB”. Both exterior halves are edged with an engraved foliate scroll border. The interior reveals a heavily tarnished gilded finish over a subtle engine-turned concentric circle pattern, along with a spring-loaded sterling silver retainer explicitly marked “ELGIN AM. MFG. CO.”, “STERLING SILVER”, and “MADE IN U.S.A.”.
Depth: 3
Condition report:
Good antique condition, commensurate with age and use. Exhibiting overall wear, including numerous surface scratches, scuffs, and significant tarnish, particularly to the interior gilded surfaces. The spring-loaded retainer appears functional.
