Description
A Chinese Shiwan ceramic figural group depicting two East Asian men seated on a textured, undulating brown-glazed base. One man, wearing a blue jacket over a lighter top and dark trousers, is seated with legs extended, looking towards the viewer. The other man, with a beard, crouches beside him, wearing a lighter top and dark trousers, and appears to be holding an object while looking at his companion; a small dark jug and cup are positioned near him. The figures are rendered with multi-tonal glazes including browns, blues, off-whites, and natural skin tones, exhibiting a somewhat rustic application. The unglazed underside is impressed with the mark "中國 CHINA".
