Lot 53:
Description
This is an authentic Lalique lead crystal apothecary jar or large decanter in the “Langeais” pattern. The pattern was designed by Marc Lalique in 1976 and is characterized by its neoclassical aesthetic, featuring a clear cylindrical body and a pedestal base with frosted, vertical “fins” or ribs. The matching stopper replicates this pedestal design with a frosted stem and a clear, flat circular top. The identification is confirmed by the hand-etched signature on the underside of the base, which reads “Lalique ® France.” Dimensions are approximately 10.5 inches in height and 5 inches in diameter. The item exhibits the high-quality hand-finishing and characteristic acid-etched frosted surface typical of late 20th-century Lalique production. Valuation basis: recent auction sales of similar Lalique Langeais decanters and jars in complete, undamaged condition.
Condition report:
The piece is in excellent vintage condition. There are no chips, cracks, or fleabites found on the body, the ground neck, or the stopper. The frosted edges are crisp and undamaged. Light surface scratches consistent with age and shelf wear are present on the underside of the base.
