Lot 40:
Description
A large decorative oval wall mirror manufactured by LaBarge. The frame is constructed of wood with a dark mahogany-toned finish. It features an openwork carved cresting in a ribbon-and-bow motif, while the sides are decorated with carved foliate scrolls and gadrooned detailing. A paper manufacturer label is attached to the reverse and identifies the maker as LaBarge of Holland, Michigan, model number 2108 B, and the country of origin as the Philippines. The mirror is currently fitted with a heavy-duty hanging wire attached to D-ring brackets, and the original brass-toned mounting clips are present around the perimeter.
48 inches high x 25.5 inches wide.
Condition report:
The mirror is in overall very good condition. The carved wood frame shows minor surface wear, including small scattered nicks and light scuffs consistent with age and use. The mirror glass is clear and intact. The reverse side shows minor wood loss near the top bracket. Although the manufacturer label advises against the use of a hanging wire, a heavy-duty wire has been installed.
