Description
A three-piece American art pottery tea service produced by the Roseville Pottery Company in the Magnolia pattern, introduced in 1943. The set is made of matte-glazed earthenware with a textured, bark-like ground in shades of brown and tan with green accents toward the base. The decoration consists of relief-molded magnolia blossoms in creamy white with pinkish-brown centers on dark, gnarled branches. The set includes a teapot with a lid, featuring a flared spout and a distinctive high-arching handle; a single-handled creamer with a pronounced pouring lip; and a double-handled open sugar bowl. The base of the teapot is incised Roseville U.S.A. 4. The base of the creamer is incised Roseville U.S.A. 4-C. The base of the sugar bowl is incised Roseville U.S.A. 4-S.
Total set width: Approximately 20 inches
Teapot width: Approximately 10 inches.
Condition report:
The set is in very good vintage condition. There is minor roughness and a few pinpoint nicks on the rim of the teapot spout. No significant chips, cracks, or professional repairs are evident. Minor shelf wear is present on the unglazed foot rings of each piece.
