Description
This lot consists of two decorative items: a ceramic tray and a carved wooden box. The ceramic tray is square in form with rounded corners and a thick, raised rim. The exterior and rim are composed of a dark gray, porous, unglazed stoneware with a volcanic texture. The interior is finished with a vibrant high-gloss abstract glaze in the Mid-Century Modern style, featuring a concentric circular motif in shades of red, orange, and yellow, accented with black. This aesthetic is characteristic of mid-20th-century European art pottery, specifically Fat Lava glazes. There are no visible maker marks or signatures. The second item is a long, rectangular wooden box made from a medium-brown hardwood. The box features a sliding lid and is decorated with deeply carved foliate and floral scrollwork on the lid and side panels.
