Description
This wall-mounted pier mirror base or low console table is designed in the Louis XV style, featuring prominent Rococo decorative elements. The base is constructed of carved wood with a traditional gesso and gilt finish. The apron is characterized by a large central pierced rocaille shell motif, flanked by scrolling acanthus leaves and carved floral swags. It is supported by two cabriole legs decorated with an imbricated scale pattern and foliate carvings, terminating in scroll feet. The shaped white marble top features grey veining and a double-molded edge. The piece is designed for wall mounting, as it lacks rear legs. No maker marks or signatures are visible.

Condition report:
Fair condition. There are extensive losses to the gilded finish and the underlying white gesso throughout the carved base. Visible structural cracking and separation are present in the carved wood elements, particularly at the central shell and legs. The marble top displays surface wear and minor chipping along the molded edges.
