Description

This Seth Thomas Sentinel No. 2 tambour mantel clock features a dark-stained wood case with a contrasting triangular wood veneer inlay at the center base of the arch. The silvered metal dial is designed with black Arabic numerals, an outer minute track with arrowhead markers at five-minute intervals, and ornate black hands. The dial includes three apertures: two for winding and one for speed regulation marked with S and F. The dial is marked Seth Thomas and Made in U.S.A. The brass mechanical movement is an eight-day spring-driven strike mechanism stamped with a circular Seth Thomas logo, Made in U.S.A., and 89 J. A partially present paper label on the underside identifies the model as Sentinel No. 2 by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. of Thomaston, Conn. The clock is accompanied by a brass-cased pendulum bob and a double-ended winding key.

Height: 9.25 inches

Width: 19.5 inches.

Condition report:

The clock is in fair to good antique condition. The wood case shows surface wear, minor scuffs, and scratches consistent with age, particularly along the edges of the base. The silvered dial exhibits surface oxidation and minor scuffing. The paper label on the underside is heavily torn and partially missing. While the movement appears complete, the item is untested for timekeeping accuracy or mechanical functionality.
