Description
A single vintage textile wall hanging executed in the high-pile shag or Rya technique, characteristic of the Mid-Century Modern or 1970s period. The object is constructed using thick yarn, likely wool or a synthetic blend, utilizing a latch-hook or tufting method onto a visible gridded canvas backing. The abstract design features a dramatic, sinuous central band composed of mustard yellow, bright orange, deep maroon, and black, set against a cream or beige ground. The bottom edge is finished with six dark brown yarn tassels. The reverse side of the canvas backing contains clear black markings, including the probable date 1977 and an inscription that appears to read NIGRINRIS.
