Description
A collection of four Golden Age and Early Silver Age comic books, published circa 1950-1953, featuring popular characters including Archie, Walt Disney’s Lil’ Bad Wolf, Mazie, and Mopsy. Each item is bound in stapled, illustrated softcover wrappers, octavo format.
The collection includes:
1. Archie-America’s Top Teen-Ager in Laugh comics No. 58 (AUG., 10¢). Published by Archie Comics (implied). Bears the handwritten inscription “Susie McIntyre” on the cover.
2. DELL COMIC NO. 473 Walt Disney’s Lil’ BAD WOLF (10¢). Published by Dell Comics. Cover bears the transcription “COPYRIGHT WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS.”
3. MAZIE STEVIE’S GIRL FRIEND NO. 11 (MAZIE COMICS, 10¢). Features a partially legible owner inscription on the cover.
4. ANC MOPSY No. 19 (TEN CENTS). Published by St. John (TRADEMARK). Bears the handwritten date “7/25” on the cover. Internal copyright transcription reads: “Copyright 1950 by Larry and Kay Copyright-Published Feature’s Syndicate.”
All four items are extensively illustrated in color and black-and-white. These comics represent the transition period of American comic book publishing.
