Description
A vintage Western Electric 191G Three Slot Rotary Dial Pay Phone, wall-mounted, constructed from black painted metal with a black plastic handset and coiled cord. It features a rotary dial with standard alphanumeric markings (ABC-WXY, 1-0) and three coin slots (25, 10, 5) above the dial, with a "COIN RETURN" lever below the dial on the left. Instructional plaques include a top sign detailing "LOCAL CALLS" and "LONG DISTANCE CALLS, " instructing a 10-cent deposit and referencing area code 716 and "EMERGENCIES DIAL OPERATOR." Below the dial, a red plaque reads, "NOW You can dial direct ALL toll calls from this telephone SEE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE." Faint engravings near the bottom left indicate "The Gray Telephone Pay Station Company" and "Western Electric Company, " with a partially visible patent date starting "Pat. 1928…", likely dating to the mid-20th century.
