Description

12 x 16 x 18 A Wottring Roto-Scope, Model 35N, manufactured by Wottring Instrument Co. of Lorain, Ohio, U.S.A., circa 1930s. The instrument features a substantial main body constructed of black textured metal, likely cast iron or steel with a crinkle finish, mounted on a heavy metal base. It includes an adjustable optical viewing apparatus with two eyepieces, along with several large control knobs and a toggle switch on its front panel, and a power cord extending from the side. A brass plaque clearly details the manufacturer and patent information, including “MFD. UNDER PAT. NO. 1,840,482.” Further markings include a calibrated scale indicating “PRISM DIOPTRE,” “BASE IN,” “BASE OUT,” “BASE UP,” and “BASE DOWN” measurements. Serial No. 7480.

Condition report:

The instrument appears complete and structurally intact. It is heavily covered in dust and grime across all surfaces, suggesting prolonged storage. Minor surface wear is visible consistent with age and use. Functionality is untested.
