Description
An elaborate Faberge-style musical ostrich egg, presented opened and extensively embellished. The cream-colored egg is adorned with multiple rows of amber-toned rhinestones and topped by an ornate golden filigree finial. It is supported by a rococo-style, gold-toned metal stand featuring scrolling motifs, which rests on a rectangular white marble base. The interior is lined with pleated yellow satin-like fabric and showcases two painted porcelain or ceramic figurines dressed in 18th-century period attire, posed as if dancing. Above the figurines hangs a miniature golden chandelier adorned with iridescent crystal drops. The hinged interior panels of the egg are decorated with complementary golden scrollwork appliqués. No discernible manufacturer’s marks or inscriptions are present directly on the object.
