Lot 70:
Description
A large clear lead crystal rose bowl manufactured by Waterford Crystal in the “Glandore” pattern. The piece features a squat, globular form with a wide, flaring neck and a deeply scalloped (ruffled) rim. The decorative scheme consists of a lower field of dense diamond-cut cross-hatching, surmounted by a horizontal band of oval “lens” or “olive” cuts. The neck is decorated with vertical pillar fluting, and the base features a multi-point star-cut bottom. Identification is confirmed by the authentic Gothic “Waterford” acid-etched maker’s mark on the underside of the base. This example is a larger, more substantial version than typical examples, measuring approximately 8 inches in height and 9 inches in diameter at its widest point. Valuation basis: recent auction sales of large-format Waterford crystal bowls in the Glandore pattern and the item’s excellent condition.
Condition report:
The bowl is in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, or \"fleabites\" to the delicate scalloped rim or the sharp edges of the cut decoration. The crystal exhibits high clarity with no signs of clouding or internal \"sickness.\" The base shows very minor, age-appropriate shelf wear in the form of light surface scratches from contact with resting surfaces.
