Description
This original oil painting on canvas by Paul Landry (1931-2018) is titled Summer Parasol. The work depicts an impressionistic coastal scene featuring two women seated among grassy dunes, with one figure holding a vibrant orange and red parasol. In the middle ground, two small children in early 20th-century dress are shown playing, while sailboats are visible on the horizon under a soft, clouded sky. The artwork is signed in the lower-left corner Paul Landry followed by a horizontal dash. The painting is presented in an ornate gilt-finished composite frame with scrolled floral and foliate motifs, a linen liner, and a thin gold-finished inner lip. The paper-covered verso includes a label from Village Gallery dated June 1987, which identifies the title, artist, and medium. Additionally, a typed biographical summary of the artist is attached to the reverse, noting his background in Nova Scotia and his professional interest in maritime subjects.
