Description
A mid-century hand-carved wooden sculpture of a woman, rendered in an elongated, stylized manner. The figure is depicted standing atop an integral, thick rectangular base, balancing a woven-patterned basket filled with fruit on her head. Her right arm is raised to support the basket, while her left arm rests at her side. She is dressed in a traditional sarong with a draped scarf or necklace around her neck. The sculpture is carved from a single piece of dark, dense tropical hardwood with a deep reddish-brown finish. On the underside of the base, there are handwritten characters in blue ink or grease pencil, including the numbers 3 and 5 and illegible cursive script. Based on the aesthetic style and attire, this piece is attributed to the woodcarving traditions of Bali, Indonesia.

Condition report:
The sculpture is in good vintage condition with an aged patina. Multiple visible stress and drying cracks are present in the wood, most notably running horizontally across the base and vertical checking on the figure\'s torso and limbs. There is significant surface dust and light grime throughout the crevices. A small chip or area of wear is visible on the back edge of the base. The piece remains structurally sound.
