Description
7 x 3.5 An Inuit soapstone carving depicting a walrus, executed by Peter Kurunuk of King Island, Alaska. Crafted from a mottled grey and reddish-brown polished stone, likely steatite, the sculpture features two lighter, yellowish-white tusks inserted into the snout, which has a distinct textured finish. The underside is inscribed “Peter Kurunuk” and “King Island, Alaskan.” An additional white inscription, “3X 22,” is visible on the tail section, along with a small, illegible white tag.
