Description
No glass! 24 x 18 A watercolor painting on paper by Rattigan, dated 1979, depicting a bust-length portrait of a clown. The artwork is rendered in a loose, expressive style, showcasing a clown wearing a small hat, a distinctive red nose and mouth, and a ruffled collar. The figure is set against a softly washed background featuring splashes of warm and cool tones. The piece is signed “RATTIGAN ’79” in the lower left corner. It is presented under glass, matted with a light grey matboard, and housed in a contemporary, narrow polished chrome or silver-toned metal frame. The reverse of the frame features a backing board marked with the repeating text “CRESCENT QUALITY BOARDS” and is fitted with a hanging wire.
Condition report:
The artwork and mat appear to be in good overall condition, with no apparent damage. Minor wear is visible on the frame, consistent with age.
