Description
78 x 28 x 35 An executive desk from the ‘Skulptura’ line by Alma Desk Co., High Point, N.C., exhibiting Mid-Century Modern design principles. Constructed primarily of dark-stained wood veneer, likely walnut, it features a prominent rectangular, floating desktop. The desk is supported by four gracefully tapered legs, each terminating in a brushed metal sabot. It includes an open central kneehole space and two pedestals with recessed metal pull handles and key locks. One pedestal contains a single deep drawer, while the other has two shallower drawers. The reverse side is finished with a decorative woven cane modesty panel flanked by solid wood panels. An interior drawer label identifies the piece as “skulptura T.M. BY ALMA DESK CO., HIGH POINT, N. C.”
Condition report:
Fair condition. The desktop surface exhibits significant cosmetic wear, including numerous scratches, areas of discoloration, and edge chipping. The remaining wood elements show typical age-related scuffs, minor abrasions, and imperfections consistent with use. Structurally, the desk appears sound.
