Description
This lot comprises a pair of decorative ceramic tiles, each set in a distinct wooden frame, exhibiting a mid-20th century folk art or whimsical style. The first tile, encased in a dark-stained wood frame, depicts a light yellow duck wearing a floral hat and carrying a basket of flowers, against a blue background with white daisies and a red border with white stars. This tile is inscribed "Mother Goose by Ellen Thorp c ABS-Thorp Inc. by Jan Tremolo Co." along the bottom edge. The second tile, framed in lighter natural wood, displays a brown cow’s head adorned with a flower garland, set within a circular motif surrounded by a multi-colored geometric pattern. The reverse of both items shows MDF backing; the cow tile bears a "sigma THE TASTEFUL TOUCH" label dated MCMLXXII (1972), indicating "DESIGNED IN U.S.A. HANDCRAFTED IN JAPAN, " and both backings feature "MADE IN JAPAN" markings.

Condition report:
Both pieces appear in good condition with minor wear consistent with age. Minor surface wear to the ceramic tiles and wooden frames. No apparent chips, cracks, or significant damage to the tiles. Frames show light scuffs and abrasions.
