Description
A Danish Modernist ‘Burgundia’ ceramic vase by Svend Aage Holm, featuring a tapered cylindrical form. The upper two-thirds are covered in a high-gloss black glaze, transitioning with an irregular, drip-like edge into a lower section of speckled, matte beige or light grey glaze. A distinct decorative band encircles the base, displaying abstract, curvilinear motifs in a lighter hue (off-white or light brown) against a dark ground, composed of raised, textured elements. No visible text or manufacturer’s markings are discernible.
Condition report:
The piece appears to be in good overall condition, exhibiting minor surface wear consistent with handling. This includes some small chips or abrasions on the raised decorative elements of the base band and light scuffs on the black glazed surface.
